Alabama Gov. Riley Signs Copper Theft Bill

This week AL Gov. Bob Riley signed into Law House Bill 94 which which goes into effect Sept 1, 2007. This law will absolutely change the way you are currently doing business in Alabama. Similar laws are on the books across the country. Are you ready for mandatory recording and maintenance of a database that will require readily available information for Law Enforcement officials? The following will be required;

1. Date of transaction

2. Weight, Qty & Desc. of material purchased.

3. Amount Paid for Material.

4. Signed Statement from person being paid stating they are the lawful owner or entitled to sell material.

5. Name / Address / License Plate / Vehicle of person delivering materials.

6. Drivers License Number and/or Govt. ID

7. Checks for $100 and above for copper and checks for $1000 and above for all other materials.
